Homed
A full-stack household app for roommates and families: chores, shared shopping lists, a recipe book and a pantry catalog, all scoped to a household that members join with an invite code.

- Software developer
- Built with
- TypeScript, Node.js, Express, Prisma, PostgreSQL, React, React Router, Tailwind CSS, Docker Compose
What it does
Members create a household or join one with its six-character invite code, then share the work of running it.
- Recurring chores (daily to monthly), assigned to members, with a completion history.
- Shopping lists built from the household's item catalog, checked off by whoever picks the item up.
- A recipe book linked to the same catalog, with suggestions from the items you have.
Architecture
An Express REST API in TypeScript, with Prisma over PostgreSQL, and a React frontend that talks to it through an Axios client. Sign-in issues a JWT, and Argon2 hashes passwords.
One database serves every household. Each record stores its household, and every handler looks up the caller's household before it reads or writes data. Knowing another household's record IDs does not give access to them. Database constraints keep item names and list titles unique within a household.
